Zayn Malik proved himself as a formidable singer during his time with One Direction, and he has continued to demonstrate his ability in his solo project with Mind of Mine and beyond.
As he ventures on his next solo efforts – most recently with a groovy new collaboration with PartyNextDoor – we wanted to highlight some of Malik’s most remarkable vocal performances, whether it was on a 1D tune, his own, or someone else’s.
1.“Pillowtalk”
Malik’s voice is passionate no matter what song he’s performing. When he sings sexually charged lyrics like those in his debut solo single, he achieves a whole new level of vocal power.
2.”It’s You.”
While the entire song is hauntingly lovely, the build-up to the chorus is particularly impressive, especially when he performs it live.
3.“BeFour”
Although most die-hard Directioners aren’t fans of this One Direction-inspired song, it’s impossible to deny that Malik sounds wonderful singing it — especially at 2:15 when he quietly screams “flashing lights.” Swoon.
4.”Like I Would”
This song is a little more famous and radio-friendly, but Malik’s performance on The Voice (especially when he screams out “He doesn’t know your body”) really brought out his voice.
5. “They Have No Idea Who We Are”
