BTS, a South Korean boy band, has a great connection with TV host James Corden, but the latter’s recent statements about the K-pop group have gotten him a lot of flak from BTS’ ARMY. The septet, which includes RM, Jin, J-Hope, Suga, Jimin, V, and Jungkook, recently spoke at the United Nations General Assembly’s Sustainable Development Goals Moment and performed Permission to Dance in the Assembly hall and on the grounds outside.
The group returned to New York this year as the special presidential envoy for future generations and culture, three years after last visiting a United Nations General Assembly.
Corden said on the Bangtan Boys’ UN trip:
“The United Nations General Assembly went off this morning in New York City, and it started with some rather strange visitors,” BTS was in attendance. “BTS paid a visit to the United Nations… Despite the fact that many people question why BTS is present, international leaders have no choice but to take BTS seriously. BTS has one of the most powerful armies on the globe. This is a historic occasion. It’s the first time in history that 15-year-old females all over the world have wished to be Secretary-General António Guterres.”
