The popular British rock band Coldplay caused a stir on social media when BookMyShow began selling tickets for their upcoming concert in Mumbai, scheduled for January 2025. The band, consisting of members Chris Martin, Guy Berryman, Will Champion, Jonny Buckland, and manager Phil Harvey, is set to take the stage at the DY Patil Sports Stadium in Navi Mumbai, Maharashtra, for performances on January 18, 19, and 21.
The ticket booking situation became chaotic as fans struggled to secure a single ticket, with unofficial ticketing platforms listing tickets for Rs 3 lakh even after BookMyShow issued a warning. Despite adding a third show, thousands of fans were left disappointed as the tickets sold out within minutes.

We encountered some important questions from various groups — how could we log in using our mobiles and laptops and still keep in touch with each other if one of us succeeded in getting tickets? Should we all join a Zoom call and keep it running in the background? If we only managed to secure two tickets instead of four, how would we decide who to politely ask to leave?
A representative from BookMyShow reported that a staggering 13 million (1.3 crore) enthusiasts attempted to secure tickets. The ticket prices were exorbitant, reaching into the lakhs, yet eager fans eagerly awaited the opportunity to purchase and proudly displayed their tickets.
Netizens noted that tickets were still being sold despite people waiting in line to purchase them. Although BookMyShow was the only authorized ticket seller, fans observed that tickets were being resold on other platforms at much higher prices. BookMyShow issued a warning on Instagram, urging users to be vigilant and avoid engaging with groups involved in black market ticket sales.
