Shreya Ghoshal is a renowned Indian playback singer who is well-known for her hit songs. She has offered her voice in a variety of languages and has collaborated with nearly all of India’s major music directors.
Shreya Ghoshal is a Bengali who was born into a Bengali household. She grew up in Rawatbhata, Rajasthan, a tiny town near Kota. Ghoshal began playing the harmonium with her mother when she was four years old. Her parents enrolled her in Maheshchandra Sharma’s Hindustani classical music training programme in Kota. She won the children’s special episode of Zee TV’s Sa Re Ga Ma competition when she was a child. Sonu Nigam, the now-famous singer, presented the show back then. Kalyanji, who also served as a judge, persuaded her parents to relocate to Mumbai. She studied with him for 18 months before continuing her classical music studies in Mumbai with Mukta Bhide.
Shreya Ghoshal’s singing came naturally to her, yet she had a singing keeda since childhood. She began studying music at the age of four. Her mother was her mentor at the time, and she gave her first public performance at their club’s annual dinner. After she won the television singing reality show Sa Re Ga Ma when she was sixteen, she was discovered by filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s mother. Following the success of her debut album, she made her Bollywood playback singing debut with Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s love film Devdas (2002), for which she won a National Film Award, etc. Ghoshal has performed as a judge on various television reality shows and in music videos in addition to playback singing. Besides singing, she is keenly interested in reading and travelling.
