While tattoos are still strictly frowned upon by some in Korean society, several K-pop stars have chosen to defy convention and tattoo their bodies. Tattoos are just another form of self-expression, and many icons have tattoos that have deep meaning. Zico has a slew of tattoos all over his body and isn’t afraid to flaunt them. One of his most meaningful tattoos is a yellow ribbon on his upper left arm, which represents the Sewol Ferry catastrophe. The ferry disaster claimed the lives of over 300 individuals, including a Block B enthusiast.
Zico got the ribbon tattooed as a tribute to the disaster’s victims and as a reminder to constantly strive for better. Soojin has had tattoos since before the release of (G)I-DLE, and her collection continues to grow! Main dancer Soojin has a profound tattoo along the back of her left arm that reads “self-love is the best love,” in addition to an acute heart-shaped friendship tattoo. She’s dealt with internet trolls in the past, so the tattoo is likely to bear a special meaning for this shy and lovely idol. The statement is self-evident! Jinhwan of iKON also has a slew of tattoos, but he’s been coy about them, keeping fans guessing. He’s always adding to his tattoo collection, but one of the most memorable (and stunning!) is the French word “entire de ses centres,” which translates to “rise or be reborn from the ashes.”
It’s a powerful statement, but only Jinhwan understands what it means to him. HyunA, the multi-talented soloist queen, is known for her sassy and sultry stage appearance, and her colourful tattoo collection only adds to her image. Despite her easygoing demeanour, the actress is extremely considering? rate of her family, friends, and admirers. She definitely has a lot of love to share, and she even got her love for her mother tattooed on her body: “my mother is the heart that keeps me alive,” says the words etched on her upper back. What a lovely gesture!
EXO’s joyful virus Chanyeol has always been forthright about his affection for the group’s fans, but this time he went above and above. He has “L-1485” tattooed on his wrist, which represents the founding date of the EXO-L fanbase: August 5, 2014. At a concert, Chanyeol unveiled the tattoo in full, telling the crowd that “all of you will always be a part of my body till the day I die.” You can’t dispute how much he cares about his fans!
