Shreya Lenka from Odisha is just a step away from getting crowned as the first K-pop star from the country. Having a place with Jharsuguda, the 18-year-old came to the last round of worldwide auditions held for choosing the fifth member from K-pop group Black Swan and the young diva needs to beat Brazil’s Gabriela Dalcin to get her position in the group. As per a report in Odhisha Bytes, Shreya is a trained dancer, vocalist and professional yoga practitioner and is trained by the Korean Music label DR Music Entertainment in South Korea.
She was quoted saying, “Since I have a deep voice, I faced difficulty in finding the right vocal trainer. My grandmother helped me find one. She took me to a Hindustani classical music teacher, who taught me twice a week. But, for the western songs, I had to rely on online videos and self-learning.” as stated in News 18.
A post got empty in the group after their member Hyeme left as her agreement terminated. Black Swan debuted in 2020. And Shreya Lenka who’s been a die-hard K-pop fan grabbed this opportunity via social media.
