The famous Korean band BTS has been making waves with their engaging music. Presently, the band is making it to the headlines for the discussions hovering around the possibility of them having to serve the military as per the country’s Military Service Act. For the uninitiated, all the men in South Korea who come between the age groups of 18 to 28 are required to serve in the military for 18-22 months.
Now with the BTS being in the question of whether to serve the military or not, the lawmakers at the South Korean National Assembly sat for a discussion where the Military Act was debated upon.
A report on msn.com states about this deliberation and we at IWMBuzz.com take reference from that story for ours.
According to a report by Yonhap News Agency, Boo Seung-chan, the ministry’s spokesperson revealed that the committee was contemplating if a revised bill should be proposed, one which would allow popular male artists to be exempted from active military duty.
“Regarding the revision bill, the defence ministry cannot help but consider situational variables. The one that we face at this very moment is the situation caused by the shrinking population,” Boo told a regular press briefing as quoted by Yonhap News.
“Secondly, there is also a need for social consensus. In other words, this is about a fair military service,” he added.
While the fans of BTS wait to know the outcome of this debate, we bring to you the ages of the BTS gang. The oldest BTS member Jin is currently 29. BTS singer Suga is 28, J-Hope is 27 and RM is 26. On the other hand, Jimin is 25 and Jungkook, the youngest, is 23 years old.
Let us wait to see what happens in this decision making from the law!!
