Fans were introduced to the sensitive side of Lisa, Rosé, Jennie, and Jisoo, thanks to the Netflix documentary Blackpink: Light Up the Sky. Fans were also able to hear about the group’s early days in the trainee program and how they came to create such a strong friendship. With their full-length record, aptly dubbed The Album, the trio has also solidified their standing as fantastic performers, and they are undoubtedly prepared to take over the globe. It’s no surprise that they have an entire fandom nicknamed Blinks, thanks to their incredible in-sync motions and amazing singing.

Colour contrast is at the heart of their moniker. In a statement, their label, YG Entertainment, stated, “The meaning of Blackpink tries to counter the prevalent image of the colour pink.” “Pink is often associated with beauty, yet the term ‘Blackpink’ actually means ‘beautiful isn’t everything.’ It also represents that they are a group that is not just beautiful, but also talented.” 2NE1 was YG Entertainment’s first success with a girl group in 2009. In 2016, 2NE1 disbanded, the same year that Blackpink debuted. Initially labelled “the new 2NE1,” Blackpink quickly demonstrated that their music was quite different.
Blackpink’s members come from various backgrounds, but they can all communicate well in Korean and Japanese. Jennie, who was born in New Zealand, and Rosé, who was born in Australia, are both English native speakers. Lisa is a Thai woman who can communicate in both Thai and English. Jisoo, who was born and reared in South Korea, is the only member who can not speak good English but can communicate in Chinese. BLACKPINK House, a reality show that covered the group’s daily lives, premiered in 2018. The series consists of 12 episodes, which you may watch on YouTube in parts.
Yes, the group is still together, but now they live in a YG Entertainment hostel rather than a house as they did on the show. Blackpink made history in 2019 as they became the first K-Pop girl group to perform at Coachella. They’re only the second K-pop group to perform at the festival in general, following Epik High’s appearance in 2016.
