Popular singer and composer Arijit Singh has a posh flat in suburban Mumbai, but his heart always pines for his hometown is what we hear. As per reports on timesofindia, Arijit is slowly moving his base from Mumbai to his hometown Jiaganj, a small town on the east bank of River Bhagirathi in Bengal’s Murshidabad district.

We take reference from the above report for our write up here.

According to his close friend and composer, Indraadip Das Gupta, Arijit has not only enrolled his two sons in a school in Jiaganj, he has also set up an advanced home studio there. The popular but famously reclusive singer, who continues to maintain a flat in suburban Mumbai, has been spending more and more time in Murshidabad ever since the pandemic first reared its head. As per reports, he travels to Mumbai only for specific professional assignments and sources say, he is currently in Mumbai preparing for his upcoming live gigs in Europe.

After his mother passed away in Kolkata last year following Covid-related complications, Arijit had performed her last rites in Jiaganj. “Now, whenever he gets time, Arijit stays with his father. In his hometown, I’ve seen that he’s not Arijit Singh, one of the most successful singers in India, but the guy next door who mingles with everyone,” Indraadip added. According to sources, Arijit has bought a massive plot of land near his hometown and plans to build a school and a college in the near future. And reports say he recently met Bengal education minister Bratya Basu to request help from the government in his philanthropic endeavours. “A large part of his income also goes into providing aid to cancer patients,” Indraadip told us.
