Drake and Taylor Swift sparked a frenzy among fans after the rapper shared a selfie of the two of them on social media, fueling suspicions of a song collaboration. Drake shared a slideshow of apparently random photographs with his 107 million Instagram followers. Drake’s 4-year-old son Adonis was featured in one shot, while Drake posed on a beach in another.
The final photograph in the carousel, however, caught the attention of Drake’s fans, since it showed Drake embracing Taylor from behind, who clutched onto his arm and smiled broadly. It’s unknown when the photo was shot or in what context it was taken, but Drake’s caption seemed to indicate that some, if not all, of the photographs were taken for business. He captioned the photographs, “They’re too soft to comprehend the meaning of hard labor.”
Despite never collaborating on music, Drake and Taylor have had a lengthy connection. According to Buzzfeed, the two sang each other’s songs in Apple Music advertisements in 2016 and have been pictured together on the red carpet and at industry events. Taylor even made a reference to the Degrassi alum in the song “I Forgot That You Existed” on her album 2019 Lover. The lyrics read, “In my feelings more than Drake.”
Furthermore, for years, rumors have floated that the two intend to cooperate musically. Sources stated Taylor was enlisting Drake’s help in honing her new sound in 2016, before the release of Reputation, which featured a more pop-centric sound than her prior tracks.
According to the same source, Taylor and Drake have started hanging out more frequently as friends — the singer met Drake’s parents at a birthday celebration and invited him to meet her family. “They have a strong bond because of their shared passion for music and studio time,” they stated.
