The K-Pop wave swept across South Korea in the 2010s and with Psy’s Gangnam Style which was released in 2012, the Korean music industry, K-Pop took over the world. The world went gaga over the emerging K-Pop trends and artists across the world. From BTS to BLACKPINK and various individual artists, the Korean pop and music industry took over the world.

BTS made history by becoming the first all-South Korean band to lead both the US Billboard Hot 100 and the Global Billboard 200, as well as setting other World Records along the way.

BTS’ ‘Dynamite’ which was released in August 2020 created new records like never before and went on to set the new world record for the most-watched YouTube video with 101,100,000 views in 24 hours. Along with that it also set 2 new records which were, the most-watched YouTube music video in 24 hours and the most-watched YouTube music video in 24 hours by a K-POP group.

The same record was also held by the all-girl band, BLACKPINK with their new-released single “how you like that”.

BTS’ hit album Map of Seoul: 7 which consists of 19 songs in total went on to become the best-selling album in South Korea.
