From extreme poverty to becoming one of the most popular singers of the music industry, the journey of Kumar Sanu into stardom was nothing less than ordinary. His entry into the industry was nothing like a bed of roses. He had hardships in his way, but he fought them all and made a name for himself with an impact in the music world.

Kumar Sanu had a voice very influenced and similar to Kishore Kumar, and so, out of Kedarnath Bhattacharya, Kumar Sanu was born. His songs were very dominant in the whole of the nation. From Dil Hai Ke Manta Nahi, Saajan, Deewana, Damini, Raja Hindustani, Pardes, Kumar Sanu had his hand in many other films. He was heard not just in parties but also in baraats, dhabas, truck drivers playing his songs. His popularity was so much at a peak that in Dayton, Ohio, 31st March was declared as Kumar Sanu Day.

Kumar Sanu had his glorious days. He was known to have created a record by recording 28 songs in a day, making a significant Guinness World Record. This is not it. He was also honored with five back-to-back Filmfare awards as Best Male Playback Singer from 1990 to 1994. Saajan, Deewana, Baazigar and 1942: A Love Story was the movie for which he sang and got 5 back to back awards.

The hit for Aashiqui 1990 was its music, with songs that were sung by Kumar Sanu. Also, his songs for Phool Aur Kaante were what got Ajay Devgan into the limelight. And there would be no harm in him claiming Sanjay Dutt’s popularity for the two musicals, Sadak and Saajan. Kumar Sanu has made a remarkable contribution to the musical world of Bollywood and will always be remembered for decades together.
