Lady Gaga, the pop queen, did a lovely thing for another woman performer at the Grammys. It just happened to be SZA, a woman who had just beat Lady Gaga for an award. On Sunday, April 3, SZA and Doja Cat won the award for best pop duo/group performance for their song “Kiss Me More,” beating out a group of heavy hitters including Justin Bieber and Benny Blanco for “Lonely,” BTS for “Butter,” Coldplay for “Higher Power,” and Tony Bennett and Lady Gaga for “I Get a Kick Out of You.”
When SZA and Doja Cat’s names were called instead of Gaga and Bennett’s, SZA rose to her feet, picking up a pair of crutches. SZA’s Grammy dress was a skintight mermaid-cut Jean Paul Gaultier gown with a long train, and she looked surprised and almost upset as she tried to move toward the stage.
Lightly, Lady Gaga rose out of her seat, knelt on the ground in her own beautiful gown, and picked up SZA’s train. She carried it carefully, stopping at the stage and jumping neatly out of the way. Check below!
