Lata Mangeshkar is the most talented singer of the century. After the death of her father, as she was the eldest in the family, she had to work to support her family. She sang many songs for innumerable movies and was a constant in the industry with her growing age. She was a necessity for every director as they wanted only her to sing for their movies. There have been many actresses who have been brought to fame because of Lata’s voice. She was very kind and generous, and her voice has been the talking point in scores of actresses from Madhubala to Dimple Kapadia as well as Preeti Zinta.
Lata Mangeshkar had magical powers to her voice and she was a boon for the Bollywood music industry. It was when India lost to China in the Indo- China war, the song she sung for those brave Indian martyrs, her voice overflowing with emotions even got Jawaharlal Nehru teary-eyed. The song Aye Mere Watan Ke Logon moved many heartening people into tears.
During the 1960s, Lata Mangeshkar had the whole music industry in her grasps. She along with her sister Asha Bhosle changed the whole industry and ruled for quite a long time. Lata Mangeshkar had monopolized the whole industry with her voice. She worked with many legend composers like Madan Mohan, Sajjad Hussain, S. D. Burman, Laxmikant-Pyarelal and R. D. Burman. Some precious feathers in her crown are her awards like Padma Bhushan, Padma Vibushan and Dadasaheb Phalke award. Not just these, but also has been awarded the highest civilian award by the Government of India, Bharat Ratna.
Lata Mangeshkar will always be remembered for her great contribution to the industry. No doubt she is the most talented and honored singer of the century.
