A perfect blend of mutual like talent, Laxmikant composed the melody and Pyarelal recorded songs. Laxmikant Sakharam Kudalkar was born in Gujarat, and was drawn towards music at an early age, and had self-taught himself to play mandolin. He also started performed at concerts. He was a big fan of Shankar Jaikishan.

Pyarelal was born in Gorakhpur and his father was a well-known trumpet player, popularly known as Babaji. He taught his son the basics of music, giving him lessons in violin. Later, Pyarelal made Anthony Gonslaves his guru. The music duo paid tribute to Pyarelal’s guru in a song in Amar Akbar Anthony: My name is Anthony Gonsalves.

Over the course of their 35-years career, they have contributed their composed music to over 635 motion pictures. Despite their low budget Mohammed Rafi and Lata Mangeshkar would sing for them. In fact as icing on the cake, Mohammad Rafi, Asha Bhosle and Lata Mangeshkar have sung the highest number of songs in their career for Laxmikant–Pyarelal.

After their career flourished they became very popular and were in very much demand. Rajesh Khanna even kept them for his 26 films for music direction.

They gave their best and spectacular hits for many movies like Bobby, Amar Akbar Anthony, Karz, Ram Lakhan, Kranti, Tezaab, Khalnayak, Prem Rog, Ek Duuje Ke Liye are few of their greatest Bollywood soundtracks.
