Therefore, as a tribute to the legendary singer, Naam Reh Jayega was started which aired on Star Plus and Hotstar. Each episode told a different story about the late singer. This Sunday’s episode featured Lataji’s sister Usha Mangeshkar and brother Hridaynath Mangeshkar. They shared some incidents of Lata Mangeshkar’s life and journey.
Talking about Lata didi’s closeness with her family, her sister Usha Mangeshkar said, “Meena Tai used to always stay with Lata didi during the recording. After recording in the studio, Lata di would ask Meena tai for her thoughts on the song. She would only give a go-ahead with the song after Meena’s approval. She trusted her a lot.” Talking about her works of charity she added, “Lata di has done a lot of charity work. That too during the time when she was not working much. She has built Asia’s biggest and the most affordable hospital in Pune. She dreamed of starting a nursing home for the veteran musicians in Bollywood.”
Her brother Hridaynath talked about the time when she received the Bharat Ratna award, “She always wanted me to win an award, that was her dream. When she won Bharat Ratna she didn’t celebrate it but when I got a Padmashree she celebrated it like a festival.”
The show consisting of 8 episodes had celebrity singers like Sonu Nigam, Neeti Mohan, Alka Yagnik, Kumar Sanu and Udit Narayan among others paying a tribute to the late singer and her achievements.
