The one legendary guy to have been known for too many things like actor, singer, director, producer, songwriter and many more is no other than Kishore Kumar. Truly there is no harm in saying he came, saw and conquered the hearts of millions of fans. Here is a tale with bumpy roads that Kishore Kumar had in his life because his life was not all sunshine and rainbows.
Kishore Kumar despite being so popular for singing was not a trained singer. But the singing wizard never actually showcased the fact that he was indeed unschooled. If you ever listen to his songs you would not believe in the fact that he had no formal training in classical music.
If one wants to describe how Kishore Kumar’s life was, it could be said it was a paradox of both happy and sad. He never gave any formal interviews but in one interview with Lata Mangeshkar, he claimed that he preferred more singing as one could express one’s true self. Whereas acting was something where one had to pretend. Also, he wished to leave everything behind and go back to his hometown Khandwa in Madhya Pradesh. He was a man full of joy.
During the 70s with his song, Mere Sapnon Ki Raani and Roop Tera Mastana for Aradhana was a huge success for both Kishore Kumar as well as Rajesh Khanna. And that is when the whole limelight shifted from Mohammed Rafi to Kishore da. He brought life to his songs and was also banned from Doordarshan because he rejected to follow the instructions by the then government.
Kishore Kumar took song-dance-comedy to the stage that was the start of modern India. He was a great entertainer. He died in 1987 at the age of 55. He married four times: Ruma Devi, Madhubala, Yogeeta Bali, and Leena Chandavarkar. He was always colorful and a wonderful guy.
