The India Vs Sri Lanka T20I series didn’t really start on a nice and positive note. While India managed to win the first game of the tournament in grand style, thanks to the heroics by the middle order, the second game was quite a disappointment for the fans. Batting first, Sri Lanka piled up a huge score above 200 and put India in the backfoot right from the very beginning. While chasing, India did their best. However, they fell short by some runs which eventually ended up being the margin of defeat. A lot of cricket experts genuinely feel that some of the no balls that were bowled by Arshdeep didn’t really help the team by any means. Hardik Pandya, the captain of the team too wasn’t very happy with the way things happened. During the post match press conference, he was quoted as saying,

“You can have a good day, you can have a bad day, but you shouldn’t be moving away from the basics. For Arshdeep, in this situation, it is very difficult. In the past as well he’s bowled no-balls.It is not about blaming him or to be too hard on him, but we know bowling no-balls in any format is a crime. Both in bowling and batting, the powerplay hurt us. We made some basic errors, which we shouldn’t be making at this level. Everyone knows what it is. The learning for us is we should be focussing on what we can control.”

On debutant Rahul Tripathi being sent to bat at number three, Pandya said: “Rahul is accustomed to playing at no. 3, and someone coming in, we want to give them a role they are comfortable with. That’s why he batted at No. 3.”
