Ballon D’Or: Lionel Messi misses out for first time since 2005, Cristiano Ronaldo included in shortlist

Know the latest about the Ballon D'Or list and what happened to Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo for the same

An important update coming in for all fans and admirers of football. As per the latest media reports in ESPN, France Football has released the Ballon d’Or voting list on Friday. It is a list that will determine the best European footballer from last season on October 17, a month ahead of the FIFA World Cup. The list had 30 names in total and guess what’s the most surprising thing about it? Lionel Messi missed out making the cut to the list for the first time since 2005. The reason for the same is said to be his very forgettable first season with his new team aka Paris Saint-Germain. On the other hand, Messi’s close rival aka Cristiano Ronaldo did find himself in the list of Top 30 this time as well. Well, the update isn’t a shock for anyone at all as he had scored the highest number of Premier League goals for Manchester United last season.

For the unversed, if Cristiano Ronaldo doesn’t win the Ballon d’Or this season, it will only be the second time since the year 2008 that neither Messi nor Ronaldo won.
