The last few days have been quite difficult for the Indian wrestling scenario in the country. It all started when wrestlers started protesting and WFI chief Brij Bhushan Sharan over sexual harassment allegations. Vinesh Phogat came out and openly even spoke about how he allegedly played with her mental health due to which she had even contemplated on suicide. For quite some time, the protests have been going on loud and clear.

Amidst all this, we have an important update. As per the latest media reports in Hindustan Times, it’s a major win for all the wrestlers and individuals who were protesting. Anurag Thakur has announced that Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh has been asked to step aside and he will be investigated by an oversight committee which will have four weeks to complete the entire enquiry process. For the unversed, Anurag Thakur’s announcement that the WFI chief will step aside came after second round of talks between the minister and wrestlers, who decided to call off their protest, which began on Wednesday and was taking place at Jantar Mantar in the national capital. He was quoted as saying,

“The names for the oversight committee will be announced tomorrow. Also, till the completion of the inquiry, the panel will look after the day-to-day activities of WFI.”
