A big update coming in for all badminton lovers and ardent followers.
The India Open tournament has presently suffered a bit of a setback because of the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic third wave. Reports in NDTV Sports reveal that as many as seven Indian shuttlers, including the reigning world championship silver medallist Kidambi Srikanth have withdrawn from the big event after testing positive for the virus. The Badminton World Federation (BWF) announced this in the wee hours, before the Badminton Association of India (BAI) confirmed the names.
Reports in the media reveal that apart from Srikanth, the other names that have withdrawn are Ashwini Ponnappa, Ritika Rahul Thkar, Treesa Jolly, Mithun Manjunath, Simran Aman Singh and Khushi Gupta.
