Yuzvendra Chahal bowled brilliant innings against Mumbai Indians on Sunday night, leading Royal Challengers Bangalore to a comfortable 54-run victory. In his 4-over performance, the wrist-spinner took 3 for 11 wickets, dismissing Quinton de Kock (24), Ishan Kishan (9), and Jasprit Bumrah (5).
Chahal has been in good form in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021’s continual UAE leg. He is the only RCB bowler to have taken wickets in all three games of the tournament’s second phase. Because he is improving with each game, his omission from Team India’s 15-man T20 World Cup roster has been one of the most talked-about topics among cricket analysts.
Virender Sehwag, a former India opener, is the most recent to get on board. He told Cricbuzz after RCB’s victory on Sunday that Chahal has been an asset for a T20 side and that the selectors must explain why he was not selected.
“Chahal was bowling well in the past also. I can’t understand why he was omitted from the T20 World Cup squad. The selectors should provide an explanation. It’s not like Rahul Chahar bowled extraordinarily in Sri Lanka. The way Chahal is bowling, he will be an asset for any side in T20 cricket,” Sehwag told Cricbuzz.
“He knows how to bowl in his format, how to take wickets. The game was set up by (Glenn) Maxwell and (Yuzvendra) Chahal. They took wickets in the middle orders which led to a turnaround,” he added.
The bulk of people were taken aback by Chahal’s omission from the squad. Varun Chakravarthy and Rahul Chahar were picked by the Chetan Sharma-led selection committee, which also featured Ravichandran Ashwin, who last played a white-ball game for India in 2017. According to Hindustan Times.
