International Cricket Council: India Trumps Pakistan In Latest ICC ODI Team Rankings

India has topped Pakistan in the MRF Tyres ICC One Day International Team Rankings as a result of their resounding victory against England in the first game of their three-match series at The Oval on Tuesday.

India’s impressive 10-wicket win over England propelled them to third place in the ICC ODI Team Rankings. India was in fourth place with 105 points at the beginning of the game; after the game, they had moved up to fourth with 108 points, leaving Pakistan in last with 106 points.

With 126 rating points, New Zealand is still in first place, followed by England (122 rating points).

Jasprit Bumrah was the primary offender as England fell to its lowest ODI score (110) against India, taking six wickets in the process. With Prasidh Krishna taking one wicket and Mohammed Shami taking three, the other pacers gathered around Bumrah.

As a result of Rohit Sharma’s unbroken 58-ball knock of 78, India upset second-ranked England with 10 wickets still needed and more than 31 overs remaining.

After being chosen the permanent captain, Rohit has now won all four of his ODI games.

Pakistan surpassed India to claim the No. 4 spot in the rankings with a comfortable victory against the West Indies last month. Australia’s series defeat over Sri Lanka caused them to fall to the third position. However, their stay at No. 3 was short-lived as India swiftly ascended to the position.

India could extend their lead before Pakistan plays their next round of ODIs with the two remaining ODIs against England and the three-match series against the West Indies later this month.

India, on the other hand, runs the risk of losing the next two games of the series against England and slipping farther behind Pakistan into the fourth position.

Babar Azam’s team will play three 50-over games over the course of five days in their upcoming one-day international fixture against the Netherlands in Rotterdam.
