Rajat Choudhary is no more an unknown name as far as volleyball is concerned. His exceptional volleyball playing skills have brought him up in the sporting world at the national level. He is a classic example of a small-town boy gaining success from his sheer hard work and talent. Despite coming from a family of farmers, he never found any hurdle in his professional volleyball player life. He has gained recognition with all his talents and passion for the sport. He hails from a small village called Nagala Cheena near Roorkee, Uttarakhand. His father – Surendra Singh is a farmer while mother Rajesh Devi is a housewife. He was brought up playing different sports. However, his inclination towards volleyball made him excel in this sport as he started playing it at the age of 11 when he was in sixth grade.
When his teachers found him bright in sports, they suggested his elders enroll him in a sports institute. In 2007, this brought the young lad at the institute called Maharana Pratap Sports College, New Delhi. This is where he got an edge to his playing skills and it went on to give him the first break when he was selected for the Under 14 National Level Tournament in 2009. Since then it was no looking for the young lad as he kept up moving higher on the success ladder. With his incredible amount of passion and hardwork, he kept on playing the sports at different levels representing his district and state and gaining more exposure in it.
Finally, the day came when his dream to represent his country was accomplished. It was in 2014, when the young man was selected for the National team that represented at the Asian School Volleyball Championships in Thailand. It was a proud moment for him that gave him good exposure in terms of playing and interacting with teams coming from different nations. He kept on moving ahead in his professional sports career. The coming year, he bagged the gold medal in the Youth National 2015 tournament.
In 2016, he joined Indian Railways in the sports quota, but kept playing as usual in his earlier team. Finally, in 2019, he joined the Indian Railway Team and bagged the silver medal at the 68th Senior National Level tournament. This was not all as in 2020, he managed to bring home a bronze medal for Indian Railways at the Federation Cup. He has now entered the senior league of players getting good recognition in Volleyball at the national level. Currently, he is working hard for his upcoming Senior National to be held in 2021.
