Yesterday was a good and positive day for the Indian contingent at the Olympics as we heard the news of the Indian Women’s Hockey team qualifying for quarters after 41 long years. PV Sindhu might have lost in the semi-finals but she’s all set to compete for bronze in her next match.
Meanwhile, some sad news coming in for boxing finals. Indian boxer Satish Kumar lost in the quarterfinals and with that, he missed out on a medal opportunity in this year of Olympics. However, what’s commendable is that he fought till the very end despite getting severely injured in the first round.
Meanwhile, Jamaican Elaine Thompson-Herah created history as she broke a 33-year-old record at the Olympics. She finished 100m final in just 10.61 seconds thereby surpassing the record set earlier in 1988 by Florence Griffith-Joyner.
