Suryakumar Yadav has made the most progress in Indian cricket during the previous several years. The Mumbai batsman has progressed in leaps and bounds as a cricketer since joining the Mumbai Indians (MI) in 2018. Yadav has scored over 400 runs in each of the last three seasons, with outstanding strike rates.
His dynamism at number three has been a key factor in Rohit Sharma’s side winning the World Cup in 2019 and 2020. The 31-year-old’s regular efforts for the team have won him a berth in the Indian lineup. In next month’s T20 World Cup, Yadav is expected to be one of India’s most valuable assets.
He was seen performing an entirely different role before signing the five-time champs. He played at number six or seven in the batting order for the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and was assigned the job of becoming a ‘finisher.’
Gautam Gambhir, the former KKR captain, has expressed sorrow for not allowing Yadav to bat in the top order. Gambhir, speaking on Star Sports, said: “My only regret is not promoting Suryakumar Yadav to No. 3 earlier. We had to use him as a finisher since there were players like Manish Pandey and Yusuf Pathan. Many players go from one club to the next. Suryakumar Yadav’s departure has to be regarded as KKR’s most significant loss.” According to Times Now News.
The two-time IPL champion skipper also stated that Knight Riders would not be able to reap the benefits of his talent development over time.
