The 2022 IPL auction is approaching, and players have already registered for the huge event, which will take place next month. The BCCI has already revealed that 1,214 players have expressed interest in participating in the IPL 2022 Player Auction. Some of cricket’s biggest personalities have elected to go under the hammer, while others have made themselves unavailable.
The list will be whittled down closer to the IPL auction, which will take place in Bengaluru on February 12 and 13. Several English players are noticeable absentees from the forthcoming auction list, following a poor performance in the Ashes 2021-22. Gayle, Chris: The Universe Boss has decided not to participate in the upcoming mega auction, signaling the end of an era.
Ben Stokes: After recovering from injury and a mental health sabbatical, the flashy batsman returned to competitive cricket in the Ashes 2021-22. Rajasthan Royals have discharged the flashy all-rounder after he missed the majority of IPL 2021 due to injury. Sam Curran: The former CSK all-rounder is one of the auction’s most surprising omissions.
In the Indian Premier League, Curran has had some success. CSK signed him for a hefty INR 5.50 crore in IPL 2020, however, they decided to release him before the auction this year. He was injured during the IPL last year and was finally ruled out of the 2021 T20 World Cup. He is still not fully fit, which could be the cause of his unavailability.
