With more than a day to spare, England smashed India by an innings and 76 runs to gain the third Test at Headingley on Saturday.
After India’s 151-run victory in the second Test at Lord’s, England leveled the five-match series at 1-1.
On Saturday, India, who were 215-2 overnight in their second innings, succumbed to the new ball and lost eight wickets for 63 runs in 19.3 overs, with Ollie Robinson claiming 5-65.

India’s 278 all-out, on the other hand, was 200 runs better than their disastrous first innings of 78, which saw England’s James Anderson rip through the top order with 3-6 after skipper Virat Kohli won the toss.
The tourists resumed Saturday’s play on 215-2, but England seized the new ball straight from the start of Saturday’s play, having bowled 80 overs.
England was in perfect control from the moment Cheteshwar Pujara went lbw to Robinson without adding to his overnight 91, lbw playing no shot to Robinson, and Kohli fell soon after for 55, his first fifty of the series.
The match was a personal win for England captain Joe Root, who led the team with 121 runs out of a total of 432 at his home field of Headingley.
It was the third century of the series for Root, and the sixth of the year.
Meanwhile, the remainder of England’s often-flawed top order all made the fifties, with Dawid Malan scoring 70 in his first Test appearance since Dom Sibley was dropped.
