Surendra Kumar Singh born on 1st October 1978 is a great Indian long-distance runner who competed in the 10,000 metres at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing. He finished 26th in the competition. With speeds of 7:50.31 minutes and 28:02.89 minutes, he owns the Indian records for the 3000 metres and 10,000 metres, respectively.
At the 2006 Asian Games, he participated for his country in the 5000 m and 10,000 m, finishing sixth in both distances. Over 3000 metres, he finished second behind Qatar’s Charles Bett Koech at the 2007 Asian Indoor Games. He also competed at the 2007 Asian Championships in Jordan, where he finished fifth in both the 5000 and 10,000 metre events. In the 3000 m at the 2008 Asian Indoor Athletics Championships, he finished second to a Kenyan-born Qatari (Sultan Khamis Zaman on this occasion).
In the Asian Athletics Grand Prix in the year 2009, he won the 3000 m. In 2009, he competed in the World Championships in Athletics over 10,000 metres, finishing 19th out of a huge group of runners.
