Chennai Super Kings (CSK), the defending champions, had a poor start to the season, losing their first six games in the 15th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL).
Meanwhile, it all started during the super auction, when Chennai failed to re-sign Faf du Plessis and Shardul Thakur, two key players in their previous season’s triumph. The absence of Deepak Chahar, who was injured, didn’t assist their cause either.
Ravindra Jadeja, who was named captain ahead of the IPL 2022 season, did not live up to expectations, looking bewildered under pressure. His individual performances suffered as a result of the added duties.
Jadeja didn’t get a lot of help from his teammates, who didn’t make any big contributions.
Let’s take a peek at three CSK players that struggled in the IPL 2022.
1. Chris Jordan
Jordan was brought in by the Chennai franchise as a prospective replacement for Dwayne Bravo, who is presently 38 years old. The English all-rounder, on the other hand, has fallen short of expectations.
2. Moeen Ali
Last year, the English all-rounder was instrumental in CSK winning their fourth IPL title. Chennai’s hitting lineup lacked potency, yet the southpaw scored over 350 runs.
The flare in Moeen’s bat, on the other hand, was missing this IPS season.
3. Ravindra Jadeja
After being named CSK captain two days before the 15th edition of the cash-rich competition, the ace all-rounder hogged the whole spotlight. However, his performance as an individual and as a team suffered as a result of the extra duties.
