Nasser Hussain said Sourav Ganguly made India a feisty side and that is why he has huge respect for the former India opener, who Hussain thinks started the REVOLUTION OF INDIAN CRICKET.
They were two of the best leaders of their generation and tough adversaries, but Sourav Ganguly and Nasser Hussain have nothing but admiration for each other. Because of Ganguly’s captaincy, the former England captain understood they were always in a ‘huge battle’ with India.
Hussain believes Ganguly made India a feisty team, which is why he holds the former India opener in high regard. Hussain believes Ganguly started the “revolution of Indian cricket.”
“Sourav transformed the Indian team into a tenacious unit. He toughened up the team, and when he was captaining it, you knew you were in for a fight.” Hussain remarked on Sony Ten Pit Stop, “I have a big regard for him as a captain because he initiated the renaissance of Indian cricket.”
Ganguly, one of India’s most successful captains, commanded the team from 2000 to 2005 and has previously stated that one of his greatest legacies is leaving behind a team that thought it could win anywhere.
Ganguly has led India to 21 victories, 13 defeats, and 15 draws in 49 Test matches. After Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni, who had 33 and 27 wins respectively, Ganguly is India’s third most successful Test captain.
Ganguly captained India in 146 One-Day Internationals, winning 76 of them.
When it comes to current India skipper Virat Kohli, Hussain says the right-hander is always desperate for a win on the pitch.
“Virat Kohli is a ferociously aggressive cricketer. He loves to win and is frantic for victory when he’s on the field,” he said.
