RCB has a Next Level Squad every year. Nevertheless, in the last 12 years, they have not won a single IPL tournament title. So, here are reasons why RCB has never won an IPL match.
1. Dependency
Dependence on a single player is rather short-lived in most sports, but it is extremely important in T20 leagues such as the IPL. Every year, we’ve seen RCB field a squad in which a few key individuals are responsible for the entire team’s success. RCB was reliant on Virat Kohli and AB Devilliers in IPL 2019 as well. As a result, the Team’s structure became uneven as a result of this.
2. Captaincy
The captaincy is the second major factor for RCB’s failure to win any IPL season. For a long time, Vettori and Virat Kohli were and are the captains of the RCB team. Vettori was the captain of the New Zealand team, while Virat Kohli is the current captain of Team India. However, unlike Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings, they are unable to preserve their captaincy.
3. Auction
The third major cause is the RCB team’s post-2008 auction strategy. Single High Rated bidding is a trademark of RCB. This basically means that the RCB squad placed the highest price on a specific individual. We’ve seen RCB bid at Shivam Dube for 5 crores, and we’ve also seen RCB bid at Yuvraj Sing for 14 crores. As a result, the purse balance is insufficient to bid on the required players. They even spend a ton of money on branding.
