Roger Federer
Federer’s relentless pursuit of perfection has earned him a place among the world’s best athletes. But his desire to improve his forehand and backhand doesn’t stop there; it extends to every part of his life, even his clothing. On and off the court, the Swiss gentleman is known as one of tennis’ most elegant players, but he admits he didn’t always enjoy the “suit” life.
“I felt very uncomfortable in suits when I was younger, so what I just started doing was wearing suits whenever I went to dinner,” explains Federer. “I used to overdress a little bit that way but eventually I got used to wearing suits. And after a while, I found that I really enjoyed buying and wearing beautiful clothing. Nowadays I’m as happy in a formal suit as a tracksuit!”
“My advise basically is that you have to make sure you wear the clothing and not that the clothes wear you,” Federer says of dressing the role. It’s straightforward in some ways, but don’t wear anything that makes you uncomfortable. Take some risks. “Experiment a little.”
