Sunil Gavaskar is one of the best batsmen on the Indian team, he was regarded as the best opener of the early 70s and late 80s. He is known for his historic opening performances, he is known for his amazing test match openings. Sunil Gavaskar has also set the world record for the most runs in the test format and also the record of the most centuries in the test format. He holds the record of the 34 Test centuries which was broken by the Little Master Blaster “Sachin Tendulkar” in the year 2005. He was also the first person to score tons in both the innings of the Test match, not one time but three times.
As the test match maestro, he became the first batsman to score more than 10,000 runs in the test format and stands among 12 other batsmen to have scored more than 10,000 runs. Gavaskar was a master of facing fast bowlers keeping a high average of around 65.45 which he maintained against the West Indies team.
Team India’s current head coach Ravi Shastri unveiled some of his opinions regarding the former captain of the team and his teammate Sunil Gavaskar. The head coach just praised the former skipper and also regarded him as the best opener of all time. Ravi Shastri also claimed that it was an honor to share the dressing room with the legend. Ravi Shastri launched his new book, ”India’s 71-Year Test: The Journey to Triumph in Australia” where he praised the best opener of the team India, Sunil Gavaskar!
