Prithvi Shaw is an Indian cricketer who plays domestically for Mumbai and in the Indian Premier League for Delhi Capitals. Prithvi Pankaj Shaw is his full name. He hits with his right hand. Prithvi was born on November 9, 1999, into a Bihari family in Thane, Maharashtra, India. Gaya, Bihar is Prithvi Shaw’s hometown.

In quest of work, his family relocated to Thane, Maharashtra. Shaw was awarded a contract by AAP Entertainment in 2001, allowing his family to relocate to Mumbai from Thane, where he completed his studies and cricketing education. He went to A.V.S. Vidyamandir in Virar, Mumbai, then Rizvi Springfield High School in Mumbai for his education.

He then completed his academic education at Mumbai’s Rizvi College of Arts, Science, and Commerce. When he was three years old, his father enrolled him at a cricket academy in Virar, Mumbai. He developed a variety of cricketing abilities under the supervision of experts at that institution.

He rose to prominence in 2013 when he represented Rizvi Springfield High School in the Harris Shield Cricket Tournament, amassing 546 runs in just 330 balls in an inning. He has also played cricket for Mumbai’s Under-14, Under-16, and Under-19 squads.

In January 2017, he made his first-class debut for Mumbai against Tamil Nadu at the Ranji Trophy event in Rajkot, Gujarat. In the same year, Shaw made his debut in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, which was held in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. In the 2018 Under-19 Cricket World Cup, he led the Indian Under-19 cricket squad.

On February 3, 2018, he captained the Indian Under-19 cricket team to victory in the Under-19 Cricket World Cup. Prithvi was purchased by Delhi Daredevils for Rs. 1.2 crores at the IPL auction in January 2018. On April 23, 2018, at the age of 18 and 165 days, he became the IPL’s youngest opening batsman. He scored 22 runs in just 10 balls in his IPL debut. Shaw made his test debut against West Indies on October 4, 2018, and scored his maiden test century, becoming him the youngest batter to strike a century in a debut match. On February 5, 2020, he made his One Day International debut for India against New Zealand. He was named to the Indian One-Day International and Twenty20 International teams for the series against Sri Lanka in June 2021. He was called up to India’s Test team as a substitute for the series against England in July 2021.
