After bowling a stunning final over against Punjab Kings (PBKS) in Match 32 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) in Dubai, Rajasthan Royals (RR) pacer Kartik Tyagi has become the talk of the town. The youthful pacer held off Punjab Kings for four runs in the final over, guiding his team to a two-run triumph. Many veterans of the game hailed Tyagi after his efforts on Tuesday night. One of them was Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah. “What a cliffhanger, #KartikTyagi! It takes a lot of courage to keep a level head under pressure and get the job done, but you did it! #PBKSvRR #IPL2021, #PBKSvRR, #PBKSvRR, #PBKSvRR.” Bumrah sent out a tweet.
“When you impress the best in the business,” Rajasthan Royals responded on Twitter in response to Bumrah’s tweet, with a photo of Jasprit Bumrah and Kartik Tyagi in whites. Bumrah is regarded as one of the best death bowlers in the world, and his words of encouragement will be a huge boost to Tyagi’s confidence.
The team led by KL Rahul’s Punjab Kings dominated the 186-run chase until the final over, when they needed just four runs to win for the fourth time this season, but Tyagi made sure that didn’t happen.
In the final over of the contest, the 20-year-old delivered five dot balls and took the wickets of the destructive Deepak Hooda and Nicholas Pooran to lead Rajasthan Royals to a thrilling victory.
Tyagi finished his four overs with figures of 2/29.
The Sanju Samson-led Rajasthan Royals moved up to fifth place in the points table with this win, while Punjab Kings remained in seventh place.
On Saturday, the Rajasthan Royals will face the Delhi Capitals at Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi.
