Sarita Mor of India won bronze in the women’s 59kg category at the current Wrestling World Championships in Oslo. In the bronze medal match, the 26-year-old defeated Johanna Lindborg of Sweden 8-2.

From the start in Oslo, Sarita dominated the proceedings. She got off to a fast start, took the Swedish by surprise, and raced to a 6-0 lead at the end of the first quarter. Lindborg tried her hardest to claw her way back into the competition despite the odds being stacked against her, but Sarita Mor kept her cool to earn the country’s second medal at the World Championships this year.

Sarita Mor had previously defeated Linda Morais of Canada and Sandra Paruszewski of Germany before falling in the semi-finals against Bulgarian Bilyana Dudova.
The current Asian champion became the second Indian woman to earn a medal at the World Championships, which ended just a few weeks ago. Sarita also became the sixth Indian woman to win a World Championship bronze medal.

Sarita first gained national attention in 2017 when she earned a silver medal at the Asian Championships. After defeating Kyrgyzstan’s Aisuluu Tynybekova, the 26-year-old took silver in the 58 kg category. Sarita rose to fame in 2020 after winning the gold medal in the 59 kg category at the Asian Championships in New Delhi, where she defeated Mongolia’s Altantsetseg In Battsetseg. Sarita successfully defended her title at the Asian Championships in 2021, winning the gold medal for the second time. Sarita won the gold medal in the 59 kg division after defeating Mongolia’s Baatarjav Shoovdor.
