The International Cricket Council’s latest list revealed on Tuesday that India captain Mithali Raj has retained her top spot in the ICC ODI Rankings for women and has also taken the solo lead after South Africa’s Lizelle Lee slid to second place.
Mithali (762) leads Lee (761) by one point, while Amy Satterthwaite of New Zealand has leapfrogged Australia’s Meg Lanning to return to the top five after a five-month absence. Lee had clinched the joint-top slot until he missed the final two One-Day Internationals against the West Indies.
Heather Knight, England’s captain, also rose in the rankings, breaking into the top ten after her match-winning 89 off 107 deliveries versus New Zealand. Knight has jumped five places to share a ninth place in the ICC ODI Player’s Rankings for batting with Natalie Sciver and Laura Wolvaardt, with a rating of 672.
In the same match, Satterthwaite responded with a remarkable 79* off 87 balls. Her undefeated efforts, though, weren’t enough to get New Zealand across the finish line, as the wickets continued falling at the other end.
Danielle Wyatt (33rd) and Lauren Winfield-Hill (37th) of England have risen five places, while Rashada Williams of the West Indies has risen 53 places to 53rd with scores of 42 in the fourth match and 78 not out in the fifth, which the West Indies won in the one-over knockout following a draw.
In the Women’s ODI Rankings for bowling, England’s Sophie Ecclestone and Katherine Brunt moved up one spot to sixth and seventh, respectively, pushing South Africa’s Ayabonga Khaka down to eighth after missing the series’ final two matches.
In the first two ODIs, Kate Cross took five wickets, while Natalie Sciver took three. Cross advanced two places to 15th, while Sciver advanced three places to 18th.
