Virat Kohli, a former captain of India, and Bhuvneshwar Kumar, a frontline swing bowler, have improved significantly in the most recent T20 International (T20I) players’ rankings, which were revealed on Wednesday by the International Cricket Council (ICC).

Both Kohli and Bhuvneshwar have improved in the rankings in the shortest format as a result of their outstanding performances at the Asia Cup 2022. Thanks to his comeback in the 20-over event, where he scored 276 runs in five innings at an average of 92.00 and a strike rate of 147.59, Kohli has climbed 14 spots to No. 15 on the batters’ standings.

Additionally, Kohli ended his 1000+ day century drought across all formats with his first T20I century, an undefeated 122 against Afghanistan. Just 281 runs were made by Mohammad Rizwan, who was ahead of the 33-year-old.

Following a lacklustre performance with the bat in the Asia Cup, Pakistan skipper Babar Azam lost his No. 2 slot to South Africa’s Aiden Markram, marking yet another significant change in the category of batters. Notably, Sri Lanka won the multi-team competition after defeating Pakistan by 23 runs in the final.

In the same way, Bhuvneshwar, the bowler who concluded Asia Cup 2022 with the most wickets with 11, made significant strides, moving up into the top ten after moving up from 11th to seventh.

Wanindu Hasaranga, Sri Lanka’s top spinner, came in right behind Bhuvi with nine wickets from six innings. Hasaranga’s stunning performance has propelled him up three spots to take over the sixth spot in the bowlers’ rankings, which Australian pace phenom Josh Hazlewood now holds. After beating out Afghanistan’s Mohammad Nabi as the No. 1 T20I all-rounder, Shakib Al Hasan, the captain of Bangladesh, has now surpassed him.
