Hardik Pandya has been out of the team for months because of a back injury that needed surgery in England. He is currently undergoing rehabilitation and that has paved the way for Shivam to make the team. Pandya who is an all-rounder had to be substituted by another all-rounder and Shivam Dubey got picked up. Young all-rounder Shivam Dube said in an interview that he is not aiming to replace Hardik Pandya in India’s T20 squad but is certainly looking to make the most of the opportunities that are coming his way.
Shivam Dube, who received his maiden call-up from the national team for the three-match T20I series against Bangladesh, failed to set the stage on fire after earning the reputation of a ‘hard-hitting’ batsman all thanks to his blockbuster performances in the last edition of the Ranji Trophy. But in the third and final game, he finally got the opportunity to show what he can bring to the table. After scoring 9 runs with the bat, he took three wickets. Perhaps, his performance in the third match was the reason why he was retained in the team for the series against West Indies. Although he was given a chance, he couldn’t deliver as expected.
We hope to see better performance from the new all-rounder and can’t wait for Hardik Pandya’s return for sure.
