It’s been said that records are made to be broken. Not all of them, at least. Some records will be remembered for a long time, immortalizing the players, coaches, and teams who achieved them.
Following is the list of five records in the history of sports that we think are unbeatable. The records stated below are in no specific order and are according to our opinions; they may vary from list to list.
Seven consecutive Tour De France wins by Lance Armstrong
Lance Armstrong is arguably the most inspirational individual in sports during the last 20 years. After surviving testicular cancer, the cyclist won the Tour de France seven times in a row (1999-2005).
Cal Ripken Jr consecutive games
You don’t get the title “The Iron Man” by accident. Cal Ripken Jr. never missed a game from May 30, 1982, to September 19, 1998. With 2,362 straight games played, he holds the record for the longest active streak in major league baseball.
Pele; the football legend
Pele came before Messi and Ronaldo. The Brazilian superstar is one of the best players in the game’s history. Pele set a new record with 760 official goals and 1,281 total goals. In 1999, Reuters dubbed him “Athlete of the Century.”
Michael Phelps extraordinary swimming
Arguably one of the best swimmers of all time, Michael Phelps holds a record of 23 Olympics Gold Medals on his name, which thus far is unbeatable.
Usain Bolt, the man with lightning speed
The Jamaican athlete holds a record of the fastest runner ever to complete a 100m race in 9.58 seconds.
