Virat Kohli has got the nickname “Chiku” and it’s no more news amongst cricket lovers. However, once the Indian caption revealed how his nickname got famous because of MS Dhoni (former captain).
The actor went candid at an Instagram live show with Kevin Pietersen, where the two were snapped discussing various topics and others, and in that, we got to know the secrets behind his infamous name “Chiku”.
Virat Kohli also revealed how his nickname got famous, saying, “MS (Dhoni) has sort of made my nickname famous from behind the stumps. In the stump’s pic, people pick up.”. The player also revealed that it was his “first-class “cricket coach who named him “Chiku”. He also clarified in the video that the coach called him “Chiku the rabbit” from the comic “Champak” for her had big ears.
On that he said, “I got this nickname from the coach that we had in the state team, in the Ranji trophy. I used to have big cheeks back then and I got my hairs cut very short and I have big ears,”. He added, “So, my cheeks and ears stood out and we just to have a comic in India called champak. There was a rabbit in that comic and that character’s name as Chiku. So, the coach called me Chiku because I had big ears and that is where the nickname came from”.
