IND VS AUS: Is Captain Steve Smith Not Batting For Long Affecting The Australian Lineup: Is He The Only Saviour Of Australia?

Steve Smith is one of the best batsmen who are good in ODI, T20 as well as in test cricket. He started his test career in 2010 and today his test average is 61.3. He has played a total of 75 matches for Australia and has become an integral part of their batting line-up. Without him in the middle order, the Australian team seems to lose balance. Despite how good he is, Indian bowlers have managed to shut him down in both the test matches that he played against India.

Steve Smith played 29 deliveries in the first innings of the first test match and only scored a single run before Ashwin’s magic delivery got him out. Steve has never faced any difficulty while playing against spinners but even so, he was very much troubled by Ashwin. In the second test match, Steve went for a duck for the first time in test cricket while playing against India. Again, it was Ashwin who got him out. During the second innings of the second test match, Steve made a silly mistake while playing against Bumrah and ended up losing his wicket.

In both the test matches, it looked like the Australian Team depended too much on Steve Smith’s batting. Hardly any other batsman was able to score good runs against India after Steve Smith departed. The third test match will reveal whether Australian batting is incomplete without Steve Smith or not.
