The ongoing Australia-India test series is seen to have some tension growing. In the wake of COVID-19, strict precautions and measures are taken by countries to try to restrict the spread of the virus. The development comes after multiple reports of the Indian team threatening to boycott the fourth Test apropos COVID-19 protocols. The venue for the third test series was in New South Wales in Sydney. Sydney has reportedly shown rising cases of the COVID-19 virus. Queensland has closed its borders for people traveling from New South Wales due to the increasing cases of COVID-19 in Sydney and surrounding regions however exceptions are made for the test match players as the 4th test is scheduled at Gabba which is the famous cricket ground at Brisbane, Queensland.

These exceptions made to the test match players do come with a little twist, the players are to be in strict quarantine and strict covid bubble restricting their movement between hotel-stadium-hotel for around 15 days. Things got worse when reports of 5 Indian players were alleged to have violated the Covid-19 bubble by dining at Secret Kitchen restaurant when spotted by a fan. The players are currently following isolation from the rest of the cricket team members as a precautionary measure. The Indian players are not keen on playing the final test match at Brisbane unless the strict coronavirus protocols are eased a little. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had officially written to Cricket Australia to express their decision not to travel to Brisbane. However, the match is on and is scheduled for 15th January 2021 at the Gabba ground in Brisbane.
