IPL 2020 which was to blaze through the Indian summer did not happen, courtesy the pandemic COVID-19 outbreak!!
IPL which involves huge money has incurred a huge loss with the matches not happening. BCCI will have a revenue loss of nearly 4000 crore Rs if the IPL does not happen this year.
Hence, BCCI President Sourav Ganguly recently opened up talks with the states to make the IPL happen this year.
Ganguly stated in his letter that the BCCI is working on all possible options to ensure that the IPL is staged this year, even if it means that the tournament is played to empty stadiums, with TV viewership being the only ways of following the tournament.
The BCCI is in the process of making an SOP and will have further talks with the states to see what can be put to action.
For all the cricket lovers and the kids who get to see major cricketing action in India through IPL happening in the summers of April and May, this year has been eventless.
We only hope IPL 2020 happens later this year!!
We will keep you posted about the new updates.
