IPL has established itself as a successful brand and is undoubtedly the premier and most watched T20 league around the World. Getting an IPL contract is the topmost priority for many cricketers nowadays. Also, many domestic cricketers shot to fame via IPL. KL Rahul, Hardik Pandya, Jasprit Bumrah are a few examples.
On the back of his performances in the Syed Mushtaq Ali tournament in 2013, KL Rahul was drafted into the Royal Challengers Bangalore set-up, a line-up which boasted the names of Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers and Chris Gayle. He was bought by Sunrisers Hyderabad for 2 years and returned to RCB in 2016. The Karnataka batsman proved his mettle in that edition of the Indian Premier League. He piled 397 runs in 14 matches and ended up as the third-highest run-scorer for his team. Kings XI Punjab picked him in 2018. Batting at the top of the order, Rahul proved his worth by amassing 659 runs with an average of 54.91 and a massive strike-rate of 158.41. He struck six fifties in 14 matches, out of which three were 90+ scores. KL Rahul also holds the record for the fastest IPL fifty off just 14 balls. KL Rahul proved his abilities in IPL and earned a place for himself in fans’ hearts with his IPL performances.
