Every cricket fan will surely remember the crazy, juggling, and unpredictable T20 world final match in 2007 that happened between the eternal rivals, India and Pakistan. Gautam Gambhir handled the entire batting side for the team and young Rohit Sharma’s 30 of 19 balls gave India a promising score to defend. In the second half, Irfan Pathan displayed his superb performance to grab the ‘Player of the Match’ title along with RP Singh, Sreesanth, and Joginder Sharma. With no other bowling option left with MS Dhoni, he handed the ball to medium-pacer Joginder Sharma and all this was based on a thread of hope since Pakistan’s best batsman, Misbah-ul-Haq was still batting.
Pakistan needed 6 more of 4 balls and fate seemed to have been siding them since Misbah was on the strike. The Pakistan dressing room looked happy and the Indian dressing room was all covered in nervousness until Misbah decided to take the aerial route. He mistimed it and landed in the hands of young bowler, Sreesanth and it was all over for Pakistan. This is how India won the 2007 T20 World cup. Sehwag was a part of this team even if he did not contribute in the final. Being a part of the team, Sehwag also received the World Cup Championship batch or tag after winning the final. The more senior players such as Ganguly, Rahul Dravid, and Sachin Tendulkar had decided to give chance to the youngsters and sit out of this World Cup.
Having received the World Cup Championship batch before Sachin, Sehwag ridiculed and teased Sachin for the very same until he became a part of the 2011 World Cup win. Sachin was better in all formats than Sehwag but even so, he was never a part of a World Cup win until 2011, which is why Sehwag made fun of him. This is what made the 2011 World Cup win even more special for Sachin as it was his last world cup.
