Shaquille Rashaun O’Neal (/kil/ sh-KEEL; born March 6, 1972), better known as “Shaq” (/aek/ SHAK), is an American former professional basketball player who now works as a sports analyst for ESPN’s Inside the NBA. Shaquille O’Neal is recognized as one of the all-time best basketball players and centres. He is a 7-foot-1-inch (2.16 m) and 325-pound (147 kg) centre who has won four NBA championships in his 19-year NBA career with six different clubs.

Shaquille O’Neal’s Los Angeles Lakers faced the Los Angeles Clippers on March 6, 2000, in the midst of what would be his last MVP season. It was also O’Neal’s 28th birthday on that day, and he celebrated all night against the Clippers’ undermanned frontline.

As the Lakers beat the Clippers 123-103, O’Neal had 61 points, 23 rebounds, and three assists on 24-for-35 shooting and a 13-for-22 performance at the free-throw line. It would go down as O’Neal’s best single-game effort of his regular-season career, as well as one of the best in Lakers’ history.
