Jemima Rodrigues is perhaps the best next-generation prospect in the Indian women’s team at the moment. She is a superb top-order batsman from the Mumbai school of batsmanship. The amount of time she gets to play shots and her easy power-hitting skills, in particular, makes her stand out. She made her ODI and T20I debuts in 2018 and has steadily grown into the second most reliable batsman in the shortest format behind Smriti Mandhana. In comparison, Jemima’s 50-over game is still a work in progress, but there is little question that she will master it sooner rather than later. She, like a few other members of the new generation of players, is an excellent fielder who can play wherever on the field.
Jemimah Rodrigues, who is 21 years and 32 days old, has been the youngest player in T20I history to score 1000 runs. She reached the 1000-run mark with a boundary off rookie Hannah Darlington in the opening T20I between India and Australia in Carrara. She beat Stafanie Taylor of the West Indies, who was the youngest at 21 years and 111 days when she crossed the finish line. Rodrigues joins Mithali Raj, Smriti Mandhana, and Harmanpreet Kaur as the fourth Indian to reach 1000 T20I runs. She’s also the second-fastest Indian to reach the milestone. Raj is the fastest, having reached the milestone in just 40 innings, while Jemimah did so in her 48th T20I.
