Mohammad Azharuddin, Ajay Jadeja, S. Sreesanth: Indian cricketers who were banned for match-fixing

Spot-fixing in cricket is a bug that has affected the spirit of cricket. Many cricketers and boards have fallen prey to this illegal activity and tainted their images, raising questions about the game’s authenticity. Here are a few Indian cricketers like Mohammad Azharuddin, Ajay Jadeja, and S. Sreesanth who were banned from cricket for being involved in match-fixing.

Mohammad Azharuddin was a notable middle-order batsman for India and led the team in 47 Tests throughout the 1990s. However, his career was cut short due to his involvement in the notorious match-fixing scandal in 2000, resulting in a lifetime ban from the BCCI. While Azharuddin was known for his impressive skills as a batsman, his association with match-fixing ultimately led to his downfall.

Ajay Jadeja had a successful cricket career, playing in 15 Test matches and 196 One Day Internationals for India. Unfortunately, his achievements were marred by a 5-year ban for match-fixing. However, the Delhi High Court later overturned the ban. Currently, Ajay Jadeja works as a cricket commentator.

S. Sreesanth, a talented Indian fast bowler, has unfortunately become known for the wrong reasons. In 2013, he was arrested for alleged spot-fixing during the IPL and supposedly confessed to the charges, according to the police. However, Sreesanth has consistently maintained his innocence and claims he was coerced into signing a confession statement. Despite his impressive statistics, he and other cricketers with similar reputations are often called the “bad boys” of Indian Cricket.

Despite some great statistics, these cricketers are referred to as bad boys of Indian Cricket.
